SMU Dedman School of Law is known for meeting the needs of our students and graduates with new and innovative programs. In furthering that mission, we launched the comprehensive Career Foundations & Professional Development program for first-year law students. Our program is also key in the professional development of our students. We created the Test Drive program during the recession, which helped our students and recent graduates gain legal experience and secure jobs.
Experiential learning is an important element to our students' legal education and professional development. Each year, more than 200 SMU Dedman School of Law students gain practical experience representing indigent clients in real situations under the direct supervision of a licensed attorney in one of SMU's ten legal clinics and projects. A wide array of corporate, judicial, government, regulatory, and public interest/non-profit externships as well as our simulation courses provide course credit and give valuable practical experience to our students.
We are excited about the success of our graduates! Visit our Employment Statistics page for more information.
SMU Dedman School of Law Office of Career Services is committed to fostering the professional development of our students to position them for success in law and business.
